About Me

I'm an average lad living in a intersting world. I love Rugby and hate Football, hence the Title of my Blog. I obviously Love the game too much having suffered too many injuries from it, such as 3 broken collar bones, 1 broken nose and 2 broken wrists, not mentioning the thousands of bruises and scratches to go along with them. Enjoy my Blog and try to learn alot from it.

The Great Game

The game of Rugby was by myth created by a young lad at a Rugby School who goes by the name of William Webb Ellis. In 1823 he started the unique aspects of rugby football by, as the stone monument at Rugby School states:"This stone commemorates the exploit of William Webb Ellis who with a fine disregard for the rules of football, as played in his time, first took the ball in his arms and ran with it, thus originating the distinctive features of the rugby game".
This Guy is my Idle, due to his disrespect for the rules of that stupid game he manged to create the best thing that this world would ever experience. Since that time rugby was born and it went through stages to become what it is today. There have been various sets of rules and even the division of two games of rugby, League and Union. Union is my Favourite and is prodominantley the most popular one of the two.
The game became professional in 1995 and since then there has been an increase in interest and performance. More and more people are starting to become interested in playing and watching the game for a number of reasons:
  1. England won the World Cup in 2003
  2. People experience more thrill and excitment through watching this than football.
  3. People are tired of the new generation of footballers ruining the game by cheating and back chatting with the referee.
  4. There is mor discipline in the game of rugby, with all players respecting the ref's decisions.
  5. The people who play Football are absolute Puff's, diving and falling all over the place.
  6. People are annoyed with the ridiculous amount of money that these people get paid to kick a ball and fall over.
  7. Finally the public are starting to appreciate how strong and physical the rugby players are and I think that people are starting to respect them for that.

So there we go a brief history and 7 reasons why rugby is on the increase popularity.
